The closer they get to truth the more Joel and Melody realize that their involvement is far from coincidental.

Review

I was attracted to this book by its intriguing cover. The plot took me a little out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed the ride.

Joel was an investigative journalist who had suffered a car accident that killed his daughter and left his wife in a coma. After a year of trying to deal with the trauma and still quite devastated, Joel was called to investigate a curse that was killing teenagers in a nearby town.

He was joined by Melody, the carefree sister of his best friend, who had previously lived in the cursed town.

One of the things I loved the most about the story was Joel’s commitment to his unresponsive wife and how he managed to foster a genuine friendship with Melody despite their opposite personalities.

There was always something exciting happening to keep me turning the pages.

The side characters were very varied, and some of them stole the show for a little while, especially the alien abducted Barry with his imaginary/ inflatable girlfriends.

The end was pleasantly surprising and upbeat. I’m curious to know what comes next for Joel and Melody.

Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
