Review | Lone Hearts by Lindsay Detwiler

Two players. One Game. Place your bets.

Lone Hearts is book #6 in the Lines in The Sand Series but can be read as a standalone. I have not read the previous books and had no problem following the story.

Sage and Cash are two independent and strong-willed characters playing the one-night-stand game to perfection. Until they meet each other.

Our thanks to the author for the advanced reader’s copy.

Book Description:

Two can play… but can two win when it comes to love?

A lawyer by day and a player by night, Cash Creed’s life in Texas is about one thing-living it up. When a tragedy in the family summons Cash to Ocean City for the summer, he’s excited about the possibility for hot new conquests and a no-rules kind of fun.

Sage Everling, a self-made successful entrepreneur, is strong, sassy, and okay with loving them and leaving them. Too busy for serious love, her focus is on success… but that doesn’t mean she can’t have some fun from time to time.

Two players spend the summer in a town focused on freedom and passion. When Sage and Cash’s paths cross, however, they both meet their match.

As the summer progresses and their feelings intensify, both learn that playing for fun and playing for keeps are two very different games.Who will be conquered?

Review

Lone Hearts tells the story of Sage, a famous fashion entrepreneur, and Cash, a Texan lawyer from a very wealthy family.

Both Sage and Cash were averse to commitment. They were proud of being players, which meant they would not do relationships, only fun one night stands.

As an old book nerd, I confess that, at first, it was a little hard for me to connect with the couple. They sounded a tad superficial even though they had (or at least Sage had) reasons to avoid commitment.

Maybe I’m just twenty years too old, but the truth is I’ve never been a player (lol).

They grew on me as the story progressed. There were some cute moments. Both Sage and Cash volunteered at the local animal shelter, and it was sweet to see them bonding amid the cats and dogs.

The couple had good chemistry, and there were some very steamy scenes.

Lone Hearts will appeal to readers who enjoy insta-lust stories with carefree and independent characters.

  1. I love the sound of this book, though I can’t imagine reading it as a standalone if it’s part of a series. Does the series revolve around different couples? Either way, I’ll be sure to check this out. Thanks for sharing!
